Textile Artist
Georgia is a Textile artist from Dublin (B.A. NCAD Textile Design) who specialises in natural dyeing, creating and upcycling fabric in a way which minimises environmental impact. After spending time focusing on acquiring technical skills and exploring materials, she is now developing a body of fine art and wearable pieces for exhibition exploring these techniques and using entirely natural materials and dyes.
These include traditional craft skills as well as exploring more experimental areas, such as eco-printing. Using a bright, colourful, naturally derived palette, she hopes to instil a sense of joy in the viewer through her sustainably-striving practice.
She wishes to create a thought-provoking and engaging body of work which inspires the audience to make more conscious decisions around their consumption of textiles. Creating pieces which are aesthetically beautiful but which convey the message and value of slow craft is what drives her, as well as celebrating the inevitability of nature and its beauty.
