Headway is a not-for-profit organisation, (Charity No: CHY 7417) which provides support and services to individuals affected by Acquired Brain Injury (A.B.I). Headway’s mission is “Bringing positive change in the lives of those affected by A.B.I.”.  Headway aims to maximise potential and quality of life and promote independence through creative activity. As part of their rehabilitation services they offer artistic activity to their clients to explore creativity and use different art processes for rehabilitation purposes.

FLUX has collaborated with the Headway group since 2018 to provide a creative and cultural resource for our local community. Our new home at the Digital Hub has allowed us to reopen our classroom space, which is now wheelchair accessible and we were delighted to welcome the group back in the summer of 2022 after a summer hiatus, and they continue to run classes here throughout 2024.

FLUX has partnered with Headway to offer classroom space for the group every Monday, where groups of 12 - 20 people come and engage in artistic activity to aid in their rehabilitation. We also offer free & discounted places on our Skillsets courses for Headway members who feel ready to take the next step in their artistic journey. Feedback has been extremely positive. Headway's clients benefit hugely from running these sessions from an artistic space as opposed to their regular offices. The clients feel like they are part of a community, and naturalising this activity helps them to feel like they are further along the road to recovery.
