Art Psychotherapist

Grace Vaughey (M.Ps.S.I, M.IACAT, HCPC, BAAT) is a mixed-media artist and integrative Art Psychotherapist who gently weaves together art, poetry, play, and improvisation to support people in making sense of their lived experiences.

Art Psychotherapy is a powerful tool for personal growth and self-understanding. It addresses a wide range of issues, from confidence and self-esteem challenges to trauma, bereavement, depression, anxiety, addiction, and relationship difficulties. While traditional psychotherapy relies primarily on words, Art Psychotherapy invites the use of creative media alongside dialogue. This combination allows individuals to express and explore their emotions in ways that words alone often cannot, offering a deeper understanding of their inner world.

Grace's practice, Aiteall Therapy, takes its name from the Irish word “Aiteall”, which means “the fleeting moments of sunshine between rain showers”. Much like life, where storms and challenges inevitably arise, it is in those brief pauses - the aiteall - where we find the space to breathe, reflect, and grow. These moments of calm offer an opportunity to gather strength, learn from the difficult times, and prepare for whatever comes next. Through her work, Grace helps individuals recognize that each storm can make them stronger and more resilient.

Grace is using her time at FLUX to develop her own artistic practice, as well as working on a range of upcoming workshops that center on the use of art for emotional well-being. When not at her gorgeous studio, she works as an Art Psychotherapist at a primary school in Dublin.
